Let Kids Watch Drag

In the Bible Belt, children watching drag shows where queens whip wigs and land splits is “horrifying;” queens who dance for kids, read to kids, are “perverted adults” “obsessed with sexualizing young children.” But children attending churches where entire sermons paint wives as subs for husband-doms is wholesome. And pastors who tell kids to sign virginity contracts, teach girls their budding bodies are danger zones, teach girls and boys to blame hemlines and panty lines and necklines, groom girls to become women who stay with abusive men because we believe we’re damaged goods, groom boys to become men who coerce without guilt because they believe her body isn’t hers, are holy protectors, true patriots, in one nation under God.
