Happy belated Thanksgiving, y'all!

Howdy y’all, and happy belated Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a cozy November. Me and the kitties sure did.

Sadly, I don’t have any new pieces to share with you all this month, but I am thrilled to announce I have a forthcoming poem in Throats to the Sky Magazine. I’m sooooooooo excited! It’s a little poem that means a heck of a lot to me – and if I may say so, it packs quite a punch. I’ll be sharing it with y’all as soon as it’s published.

My Thanksgiving holiday was lovely; I made spiced wine and stuffing and mac and cheese. I dressed up for my dearly departed grandma Ruby (I dressed up for her on Thanksgiving when she was alive, and it’s a tradition I’ve continued since she passed away). I met my baby nephew, and I visited a local Christmas tree farm with my family (another long-standing tradition).

Aside from American Thanksgiving, the biggest thing to happen in my neck of the woods this month was the passing of Amendment 3. Huzzah for legalized, recreational cannabis consumption for adult Missourians!!! Somewhere, mid-twenties me is sitting cross-legged in a sun-dappled public park, cotton mouth agape, mentally praising all the gods and goddesses for this glorious turn of events.

Seriously though, I’m so happy Amendment 3 passed. I haven’t been truly baked in years – and aging has completely changed my relationship with THC – but I don’t think I would have survived my traumatic twenties if I hadn’t had access to cannabis. Cannabis saved my life, and I have no doubt the healing plant will save the lives of countless other Missourians as it becomes more accessible.

That’s all I have to say for now. Thanks for reading!

~ Liz ❤️
